Scotland is the ultimate dream of every golf enthusiast to play in considering the fact that it is the “birthplace of golf”. Many tour agencies offer choices for tourists who like to experience golf at its best. Edinburgh has a lot of golf courses if you want one, you need not go that far. I recommend these spots – putt away!
The Mortonhall Golf Course
Mortonhall is the great grandfather of all golf courses in Edinburgh. The site was opened in 1892 and it is included in the list of best golf courses in the entire Scotland. And it isn’t just a plain golf course. It also offers picturesque views of North Berwick, the Bass rock and the soothing sea shore plus the dreamy lakes and ponds. Imagine playing golf in a course with these views plus the feeling of being in the forest with bunches of cherry trees, birch, pine and sycamore that seem to play on their own. No wonder why Scotland is the best place to play golf.
Bruntsfield Links
I recommend this place not just because it is one of my personal favourites but this golf course is truly amazing! This may not be the very best place for serious golfers but it is one of tourist most-loved spots with spectacular view and relaxing ambience. It is a course in the inside the city and off the Meadows. You’ve got two options here – if you’re not in the mood to play, just drop by the Golf Tavern and have a drink. You may not know that Bruntsfield Links is the oldest golf clubhouse in the whole wide world.
Turnhouse Golf Courses
A golf course near the airport and the quarry site but has its own special way to show off in its own world. When the Forth Rail Bridge was opened, the nearby railway station turned into a busy stop, where a train with built in saloon stops for members to savour a real afternoon delight. The course gives golfers challenging yet enjoyable golf experience. And don’t forget to take the full circle view from Lennie Hill.
Braids Hills Golf Course
I’m sorry folks but this spot is not that good for beginners as this is one of the most challenging golf courses the city could have. The astounding sights surrounding the course might be a little distracting but you have to ignore it no matter how awesome it may be – there are more important things that need your attention like the tough shots, the tricky obstacles and gorsy bushes that would definitely take you to your limit. If you are passionate about golf, then you have come to the right place. It’s a good site to go strolling too and check out the Observatory nearby Blackford Hill.
Craigentinny Golf Course
Found in the northeast of the city, and lies along the shoreline going Leith where you can surely get a wonderful perspective of the city, highlighting Calton Hill and the Arthur’s Seat. Several easy and difficult shots are made available for different level of golfers, and such a lovely place to appreciate the sea and beyond from miles away on bright sunny day.
Carrick Knowe Course & Princes Golf Course
Theses establishment accommodates beginners with a small course. Princes lies in Brand Hill but this isn’t the same as the difficult course mentioned previously, so please don’t get confused. However, the course can still provide a fair challenge while enjoying the surrounding sights. Carrick Knowe was once the Saughton Golf Club in 1905 and one of Edinburgh’s flatter courses that offer both challenge and fun to golfers.
