When going on holiday, one of the last things that you might think about is what you are going to eat before flying. However, this is an important point that should be based on how long you will have to wait until you get the chance to eat a good meal again. In this guide, Martin from Low Cost Airline Guide looks at places to eat and provides some useful tips about eating at Edinburgh airport.
Guidelines

Food at the Edinburgh airport is modern but yet has a Scottish flair.
Eating at the airport is not like eating a normal meal because there is so much more you need to keep your eye on. Here are a few tips in order to make sure you eat correctly and have no chance of missing your flight:
- It’s lower risk to eat after you have passed security. The reason for this is because you do not know how long passing security will take. Therefore, taking this risk which could end in you missing your flight would be absurd.
- Make sure you always know how long you have until boarding starts. If you are unsure about the time, then ask somebody at the place where you are eating how long your order will take to come. Furthermore, make sure you always sit in view of a flight monitor.
Edinburgh Airport

Wetherspoon's... good quality, good price.
There are five different ‘sets’ of places that you can choose to eat from when at Edinburgh airport. This means that there is always something for every budget.
- Fine Dining – Thermidors Seafood Bar is a wonderful restaurant that can more than match some of the five-star establishments on the high street. This is the most expensive place that you can eat at the airport. Therefore, it is only recommended for couples or those on business.
- On The Go – If you do not have too much time and want to grab something simple and low cost, then one of the following places will be perfect; EAT, The Gathering Deli Cafe and Takeaway, WHSmith Cafe and Yo Sushi. These options are all quick, which means they are ideal for families who want to take something easy with them.
- Healthy – Just because you are going on holiday that does not mean that your diet needs to take a break as well. EAT, The Gathering Deli Cafe and Takeaway and Yo Sushi all offer healthy options like sandwiches, soups and fish. All of these choices are relatively cheap, and as they are served in places where there is an array of selection options it means that the rest of the family can order something else.
- Breakfast – If you are flying off in the morning, you may want breakfast, and if this is the case, then there are plenty of places where you can grab a bite. Weatherspoons is open with every flight, so there is always something you can pick up. Furthermore, Weatherspoons is not expensive, which makes eating there with the family ideal.
- Bars – If you want to get a drink with your meal, then going to a bar is the best option. Fringe bar and eating place, Weatherspoons Express and Weatherspoons are all perfect places after security where you can get a good-quality meal and drink for a reasonable price.
Summary
Edinburgh airport is clearly a destination that has thought about the amount of eating options available to its passengers. This is why there are so many inexpensive yet quality eateries available on site.
